Pit Droid Companion
For when you're down in the pits...
This is a mini Pit Droid from Star Wars, who can be your companion as you study all alone in your dorm. He has a single LED light in his head that can be turned on and off with an IR sensor, which is hooked up to an external Arduino. All the user has to do is make sure their droid companion is plugged into power and hit either the volume up or volume down button to turn the light on or off. The Pit Droid's arms and legs can also move in ball joints, so he can stand or sit in whatever position you want!
